It’s been a little while since I’ve posted here. I had a great fall tour with The Jazz Council, and managed some gigs with Redgirl as well, and did a weekend with the Symphony of the Kootenays in December. While Redgirl seems to be slowing down these days, The Jazz Council is starting to gear up for a busy spring. We’re still booking gigs, but you can check out our tour page here for dates.

Quintessential Jazz has changed our name to The Jazz Council, and we’ve got lots of gigs booked for this fall in promotion of our debut record, which we completed recording for yesterday. redGirl’s new album debuted strongly at the Key City Theatre earlier this month, with a three-band CD release concert. Also, I’m going to start taking students for the fall, so please contact me at svenheyde@hotmail.com if you’re interested.

So, redGirl’s debut album did not, er, debut this weekend. We’ve pushed back the release until June, in part so we could be a join up with 2 other bands for what we think is a first in Cranbrook. 60 Hertz, Heather Gemmell, and redGirl all have albums due out around the same time, and so we are going to be sharing a stage at the Key City on June 11th to celebrate. Tickets go on sale early May, and there will be Gold and Silver tickets available. Silver tickets are $15 and get you in to the show. Gold tickets are $30 and come with all three CDs. Pretty darn good deal I think. Hope to see you there.

I’m excited to be a part of two incredible bands, redGirl and Quintessential Jazz, both of whom have albums due out this year. redGirl will be releasing their debut ep this April 1 and 2, with shows at the Stage Door in Cranbrook. Quintessential Jazz, which maintains a heavy gigging schedule, will be putting out an album this fall.
